Is a EUR 0.59 Makeup Brush Cleaner Actually Worth Adding to Your Routine?

We used this folding silicone brush cleaning bowl on our makeup brushes and sponges for two weeks to see if it beats a bar of soap and a sink.

The Bottom Line

At well under a euro, this silicone brush cleaning bowl earns its spot in a makeup bag purely on cost, and after two weeks of daily use it hasn't fallen apart or lost its grip texture.

What We Tested

We ran it through our normal routine, cleaning three eyeshadow brushes, one powder brush, and a makeup sponge every other day, and timed how long a full cleaning cycle took start to finish.

Cleaning Performance

The textured silicone ridges break down caked powder and cream product faster than rubbing a brush against your palm, and the bowl's shallow reservoir keeps water use low so it doesn't turn into a sink full of pigment.

Portable, Collapsible Design

It folds flat to about 3cm thick, so it doesn't take up meaningful space in a drawer or travel bag, and the silicone bounces back to shape without cracking after repeated folding.

Where It Falls Short

The suction feet on the bottom are more decorative than functional, it doesn't grip a wet sink or counter as well as we'd like, so you'll want to hold it with one hand while scrubbing. It also isn't designed for stiff-bristled brushes, which need a bit more resistance than the soft ridges provide.

The Verdict

For less than a euro, this isn't a brush cleaner you need to think hard about, it does the basic job well, folds away when you're done, and won't be a big loss if you eventually replace it.
